Thank You,</font></div><div><font size="2" face="Arial">-----------</font></div><div> </div><div><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-left: 0in; "><font face="Calibri">Dear Band Boosters and band parents,</font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-left: 0in; "><font face="Calibri">I would like to share some exciting information that may be of interest to you as parents of the students in your high school band program.<span> <span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span><b>WILLIAM PENN UNIVERSITY NOW HAS A<u><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>MARCHING BAND PROGRAM!<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></u></b>– Oskaloosa, IA</font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-left: 0in; "><font face="Calibri">While every student eventually approaches high school graduation and begins making plans for further education, they consider colleges and universities for their desired degrees of interest, and they consider some of the activities to be involved in.<span> <span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span>For those who would like to continue music as an interest<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><b>or</b><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>for their choice of studies, we offer many choices, including Vocal ensembles, Concert band, Jazz ensemble, Marching band and Pep band.<span> <span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span>As all of the major State Universities have marching band programs, very few of the private universities and community colleges offer this opportunity.</font></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-left: 0in; "><font face="Calibri">As parents, a common concern is the cost of college, so to inform<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><u>you we are giving scholarships</u><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>for participation in these programs, which can greatly reduce the costs of tuition.<span> <span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span>In fact, many students who qualify for the Pell grants and Iowa Tuition grants, and participate in one or more of these music ensembles pay very little for tuition.<span> <span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span>We can compete very well with the costs of college against most of the colleges and universities in the state.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><span> </span>Students do not need to be music majors!<span> </span></font></p><div style="line-height: normal; margin-top: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-left: 0in; "><font face="Calibri">Last spring I was hired as the Director of Athletic Bands, to form a marching band and pep band program.<span> <span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span>They allotted me an approved four year budget, and the use of new facilities on campus to get started which made this very exciting.<span> <span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span><span>My area of expertise is in Marching Percussion and with experience as a member with the Cavaliers and Santa Clara Vanguard drum and bugle corps, and as a Caption Head for the Colts, Blue Stars and University of Nebraska, Lincoln Cornhusker Band.</span><span><o:p></o:p></span></font></div><div style="line-height: normal; margin-top: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-left: 0in; "><font face="Calibri"><span>Next fall we are adding additional staff in the areas of Horn line instruction, M&M, and color guard - all with corps experience and influence.</span><span><o:p></o:p></span></font></div><div style="line-height: normal; margin-top: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-left: 0in; "><span><font face="Calibri">We do have current faculty specializing in instrumental music, keyboards and vocal.<o:p></o:p></font></span></div><div style="line-height: normal; margin-top: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-left: 0in; "><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 12pt; "><o:p> </o:p></span></div><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-top: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-bottom: 10pt; margin-left: 0in; "><font face="Calibri">Here is what has happened in the last 10 months and what is to come.</font></p><div style="line-height: normal; margin-top: 0in; margin-right: 0in; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-left: 0in; "><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; ">* This year we performed as pep bands for the home Football games w/drum line, Volleyball matches and Basketball games.
